A Challenge for the New Year----

Hi Blog Friends!

I HOPE everyone had a BLESSED Christmas & you're ready to plow into the New Year!
I have a Challenge for you in this post & I hope you will stay with me to see exactly what it is!

I find with the New Year,
it is  now time to address the project I told you about a few posts ago with gusto!
"Santa" granted my request for a certain gift this Christmas,  to help me with this project.

So, even though I've already begun the work, work will be even more intense,
if I can keep myself motivated & the inspirations flowing! LOL
(I do have a dear friend that is in-on the project,
& is already checking on my progress!)

But, I wanted you to know, because I will be posting less now,
except for a few challenges that pop-up here & there,
or if I feel I need to pop in here to keep in touch.
Say a prayer for me as I work on this project?
Just to let you know, it is something I've never done before, but have thought about.
(All hush-hush for now.) :)
God willing, I will continue to tackle this project head-on, & finish it with spectacular results!
It is dedicated to the Glory of God & is in His hands.

*******************************************

I want to show you something before I leave you today----
I have wanted to show this to you for sometime, but was waiting for the right time.
I thought, what better way to begin a New Year?
It is something that I think you might find interesting & I think, will help you in your
 Spiritual Growth!

If you are searching for the truth about life, have questions about God, or are just wanting to know God more, seeking meaning to life, wondering why life has dealt the hand that it has to you,  understanding people, the list goes on....
whatever your question....
learning to understand God's Word is key!
Using Scripture to decipher Scripture is the key, as
 Scripture doesn't contradict Scripture!!!
You can't pick & choose Scripture, like picking fruit at the grocery.
It all has to be taken in context.
I wanted to share this with you to help you enrich your relationship with God.
I have been so blessed with finding this style of study & wanted to share it with you!

I do understand that many have questions & don't understand why their lives have turned out the way they have, & they are discontented with their lives... questions arise & blame is thrown about,
 usually landing at God's feet.
But, God isn't to blame.
He LOVES YOU & He offers His Holy Word as a road map to this life.
IF ONLY, we would read God's Word & find our way to HIM!
It would make all the difference!
Coming to Christ, or asking Christ for things, isn't a "bag of magic tricks" that we get to pick & choose, or demand what we get in this life either....
Of course, we only want the good things to happen to us; that's a normal human reaction.
Life comes, & it is usually FILLED with things that make our heads spin & cause heart ache,
we live in a fallen world.
We are to learn to deal with things according to HIS WORD, not ours!
( "Ours" being, doing what we think should be done.)
That is the "refining" experience that is talked about in God's Word---
those trials & tribulations are to make us shine for HIM!
To give HIM GLORY!
1 Peter 1:7, Psalm 66:10-12, Isaiah 48:9-11, Daniel 11:35, Malachi 3:2-4
 & there are more scriptures.
But, if we don't "KNOW" HIM, we can't shine!
Which leads us back to, do you have a "personal relationship with Christ?"
If you don't, check my previous post on finding Christ, here:
http://tladydesigns.blogspot.com/2014/07/speak-life.html
(Just scroll down to "The Gospel Message:")

Here is a song that I have been listening to lately:
It has made me thirst for Christ even more.
Make it your prayer as you listen?
(Pair this song with your Bible Study & see what happens!)

This is a book I found awhile back:
(Kay Arthur does have a more current book than this one; it's a little more expensive.)
It teaches you how to study the Word of God & glean from it the truths many are seeking.

(Yep, you can even stamp doing this!) :)

Here is the Study Bible Kay recommends:
It comes with options, & it has margins wide enough to make notes, it has charts, etc.,
&  pages thick enough so your ink doesn't bleed through.
These are the pens recommended.
(You can find all this on Amazon, or look for www.harvesthousepublishers.com or
 Precept Ministries International.)

Here is another book you can look for that will also enhance your daily prayer time with the Lord.
It's called,
Lord, I'm Listening
by Donna Leonard.
(I think I recommended this one awhile back.)

I found this one in the book store of my Alma mater, years ago.
It isn't in print right now, so you might have to search for this one,
but there are many books out there on how to make a
Prayer Journal
& sometimes, you can find them already made, & you just fill them in.

PEACE ON EARTH

Hi Blog Friends!

Are you ready for Christmas?
Are your cards sent out?
I have been working away here trying to finish mine up.
I finished them & got them right out in the mail!
In the past, I have been better about getting them in the mail sooner than this,
but what does one do if they just haven't found an image to work with that intrigues them?
That was my case, until I saw these dies over at SSS!
I haven't been big on dies in the past....cost is a big factor to me,
BUT
I have been admiring the little building dies that have been out there for sometime now,
& I also knew if I were to get them, I wanted the ones with the little windows!
Then, I saw a little tutorial over at SSS on these dies & was smitten!
You can see the tutorial here:
Yes, I "cased" this card!
(Not something I try to do, but this card was TOO CUTE & I think I'm not the only one who did this this year! I looked later after ordering these dies & SSS was sold out! LOL)
But, I did try to change it up a bit to make it "mine!" :)
(I tried other things too, but opted to keep my card more simple, another thing I don't usually do! That's right, my ideas didn't work! LOL)

Take a look:
I like to make my cards all the same, so I don't forget & send a repeat the following year.
I also try to keep my cards the standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

I added SU- Felt Snowflakes & a Paper Studio- Rhinestone instead of little poinsettia's.

I used SU- Soft Sky & Midnight Muse for the sky.

"Peace On Earth" from SSS Exclusive- Joy by Kelly Purkey & SU- Silver Embossing Powder.

I didn't stick with just one color for the felt snowflakes, but alternated between the blue & the white, for that unique & individual touch, that one of a kind thing!

Here's a close-up of the little buildings.
I  used Stickles for the buildings, the windows, &  the landscape, giving them an icy look;
another personal touch all my own!
I used Dick Blick Modeling Paste with a stencil from SSS-Falling Snow, for the falling snow.

I used the largest Spellbinders Classic Circles Die in the package.

Another unique touch to my cards are the sequins I used, also from SSS- C Cartwright- Moonshine.
They're teeny-tiny, so I used a Silohouette- Pick Me Up Tool,
applying them with SSS- Multi-Medium Matte.

Now, take a look at the demension of this card!
I used Scotch Permanent Mounting Tape, behind the buildings & on the front panel.

I just LOVE the dimension!
It makes me think of a snow globe.

Don't forget a matching envelope!

Wishing you a never-ending season of love & peace;
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
 TLady

P.S. SOON dear ones, we WILL have
Peace on Earth,
 because
THE KING IS COMING!

"The steadfast of mind Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in Thee."
Isaiah 26:3. (NAS)

"And The Stockings Were Hung..."

Hi Blog Friends!

This is the month that just INSPIRES ME to CREATE!
Getting ready for Christ's Birthday & making things for my loved ones & friends is a special time.
I have been busy here & I will show you what I've been working on.

First of all, I will be entering these in the following challenges:

Be sure to check out these challenges & jump in on all the fun!
(I do believe, they expire SOON!)

I've made a little tutorial for you too, so grab your favorite cup of tea/coffee & sit back & enjoy!
Here are a few sneak peaks to get you ready:
I used the a stamp set that is an EXCLUSIVE to SSS for the tags!
JOY- by Kelly Purkey.
A SWEET GIFT from Kat!
(That's how she signed her sweet note.)
THANKS KAT! :)

Hmmm, "Elf No. 2" stamped "his number," but needs to initial these tags,
 a final sign-off by Santa's Rules!
You know, "Quality Inspections...."
We MUST follow Santa's rules! LOL

Here's my tutorial:
We're going to
 EMBOSS FELT!

Using the SU- Holiday Stocking Bigz Die cut two--of felt or material.
(I ONLY buy Bigz Dies when they are on sale/clearance!)
Apply Mod Podge to the felt & let dry overnight.
(The Mod Podge will act as a stabilizer if you apply this to cotton material like I did on one of my stockings.)

Make sure you don't get anxious & emboss before the decoupage is totally dry or you'll be scrubbing your embossing folder with a brush like me.  I thought this was dry, but it wasn't quite dry.... LOL
No worry, I just waited till the morning & all was well.
(The embossing folder needs to be scrubbed right away!)
I used SU- Petals a Plenty (Now in Clearance-$4.79. That's a STEAL!)
No worry if the toe peaks out, you'll see why.

If you enlarge the photo, you'll see the left is the soft side after it's been embossed.
The right side is the side I added the decoupage to.

Here's a closer look.
You can use either side, it's a matter of personal preference.

Lay the cuff on the top of one side of the stocking & figure out how high/low you want it to be.
Start sewing on one end, leaving a space on either end.

You'll see in the picture below where I started & finished.

Line up the stockings to sew together.

Flip up/back the cuff on both sides, where you didn't sew & begin sewing down one side,
& follow on around the stocking.
(Don't forget your back stitching when you sew! Experienced sewers know this, but you'd be surprised to know, that some people don't back stitch. Even with being "experienced!")

Trim off the excess, where you didn't get it quite even.
I also trimmed a little on the cuff too.
(Be careful there. You don't want to take away too much.)

 Add the heels & toes.
I used Multi-Medium Matte & let it dry.
You can find Multi-Medium Matte at SSS.

Trim off the excess when it's dry.

Hand stitch closed the front of the cuff.

Hand stitch lace on top of the cuff, tucking in the ends in the open end of the cuff.
This will also cover up the stitch you made to connect the cuff & the stocking on the sewing machine.
After tucking in the ends of the lace & stitching the lace to the cuff,
whip stitch the last open end of the cuff.

Cut little petals  out of felt & 2 green leaves for the flower.
(You'll see one leaf here, but I soon found out I needed 2!)

I made tags to go on my stockings using the set from
Simon Says Stamp--It's a Simon Exclusive -Joy by Kelly Purkey.
Here you can see I used an "Out of the box" technique with my punch.
I wanted  a little tab to add twine or ribbon to, to tie them onto the stockings.
Such SUPER CUTE TAGS!!!

Here are the finished Stockings & ideas as to how to use them:

This one is more traditional with embossing on the felt. I added tiny jingle-bells to the center of the poinsettia & on the ends of the ribbon, & I also added a larger jingle-bell to the toe.

The next stocking was made with embossing the felt with SU- Northern Flurries embossing folder.
I didn't think it showed up as well, so I added Stickles to the snowflakes.
I also hand sewed Silver Glass Seed Beads-from Wal-mart, (Mainstays Crafts), on the lace & on the stocking itself.
The Ribbon Flower is an extra from a previous project.

Next, I have a Pink Stocking! I don't know WHAT it is lately, but I am LOVING pink for Christmas! LOL This one is actually done with fleece. I found it leaves more fluff to work with when sewing on beads. I hand sewed Silver Glass Beads on the lace  & then on the stocking itself, creating snowflakes.
This one took me quite awhile to finish!
And again I made a poinsettia, just making it a little fuller, & adding seed beads for the center.
Seed beads were also sewn to the ends of the ribbons.

I couldn't get away from making a BATMAN stocking! LOL
I added tiny jingle-bells to the jester-style cuff I created.
(Our son didn't like the jingle-bells...but, I told him it's a little touch of the joker.
He told me, "Never mix the Batman & the Joker!" LOL
I did some "fancy" stitching on the heels & toes & around the top of the stocking with craft embroidery thread.
I adhered the heels & toes with decoupage,
& I added a larger jingle-bell to the toe
For the top corner of the stocking I created a bottle cap pin with a 1" epoxy sticker & stuck it over the Batman symbol on the material I had.
Cut  out the image around the sticker, & glued it in the bottle cap, also gluing a pin clasp to the back.

Here are a few ideas on how to use these cute stockings:

You can slip a gift card/s & a few small candies in them & give this away....

AND/OR

Write the year & a small note on the back of one of the tags & use as a Christmas Tree Ornament,
for you or the recipient!

Hope you like these little stockings!
Let me know what you think?
Your comments are always appreciated!

Busily stuffing those stockings & getting Elf #2 to "sign-off" on these!
WHAT was he thinking?
TLady

P.S. I even came up with another idea when I was almost done with these....
think Camouflage & deer antler buttons....! LOL
I'll need to get to the sewing store for that!

TAG IT!

Hi Blog Friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We did & are still eating leftovers.
I like to cook & my family loves to eat!
God is good to bless us!

But, I  thought I'd pop in here & share with you some tags I've made for Christmas gifts.
(Posting these at this time will give YOU time to make some for yourself!)
I saw these in a magazine ages ago & thought,
"I don't think I'm going to pay that price,
ESPECIALLY when I could make them myself  EASILY!"
So, here we are! LOL
I thought they were so cute & you can decorate them any-which-way you choose.
They make your packages look even more festive & special!

Here's a peak at one of the tags I made:
(Super simple!)

(I left one without a decoration for you to see. One with Baker's Twine & one with the twine that came with the tag.)

I am entering these little tags in the following challenges:
Craft Hoarders Anonymous
 Challenge #21, Celebrate the Season.
Check here:

Supplies needed:
You will need some Felt in the color/s you prefer, some colored Embroidery Floss in the colors you prefer, what you are going to decorate the Felt Tag Holders with, Small Manila Tags, (You can find these at Wal-mart or the Office Supply Store) & Stamps to decorate the Manila tags with, a Needle & Pinking Shears.
Additional possible supplies:
Pipe Cleaners, Rhinestones, (or your choice of decoration) Hot Glue Gun, & Bakers Twine.

Here's a peak at the other tag I made:
( A picture with both of the tags.)

Cut your felt to 2" x 2 7/8" with your Pinking Shears. You can cut two layers at once if you choose to match the sides up. Once you have the felt cut, choose what color of Embroidery Floss you want to use. I used a craft style of embroidery floss & didn't need to separate the strands. Otherwise, I would use 3 strands of embroidery floss. Tucking your knot inside on one side, begin your stitching down one side, across the bottom & up the other side. Tucking in your last knot to finish off the stitching so your stitching won't come undone.
Your pocket is made.

How will you decorate your tag holder?
 I used pipe cleaners.
For the Candy Cane, I just twisted the red & white pipe cleaners together & cut it off for the size of the candy cane I wanted with wire cutters. Shape your candy cane & use your hot glue gun to attach it to the tag holder.
For the Snow Flake I found the color pipe cleaners I wanted & just criss-crossed them & twisted the centers together. Hot glue gunned it to the tag holder & added a rhinestone to the center.
For the Tags themselves, I used SU- Christmas Bulb Mini (a super old set I bought back when I first discovered SU!) for the peppermint candy. I also used a White Sakura Glaze Pen for the white on the peppermint. The "To & From" are from SU- Winter Post, another "old" set. For the Snowflake tag, I used SU- Winter Post for the stamped snowflakes.
You can switch the twine on the tags if you choose to Baker's Twine, to the color of your choice.
You can tie your tags onto your packages or just stick the twine under your sticky ribbons.

For those that want to peak at the presents to find out who is getting what,
it will take a little more effort! LOL
And your gifts will LOOK GREAT!

Here are a couple pictures of the tags on wrapped presents:
Still working on getting the tree up or I would have given you pictures of them under the tree!
Such a SPECIAL DAY Christmas is,
Christ's Birthday!
Don't forget in all your busyness, to think on the purpose of this blessed day!

Hope you like these little Tags & try some of your own!
