CLUCK! CLUCK!

Hi Blog Friends!

Well, I have been busy here these last few days with two additional entries in the current Challenges going on over at SSS!
First, the
SSS Monday Challenge Blog's Challenge:
"Felt That!"
Located here:
AND the
SSS Wednesday Challenge Blog's Challenge:
"Fun With Felt!"
Located here:
Oh my goodness, it was SO FUN to work with this CUTE DIE!
The Plush Springtime Chicken!
From SSS
(When I first saw it, I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT!)
I made little ornaments, but they could have been turned into sachets just as well for the closet!
I made two different ones, so take a peak & tell me what you think?

This is the first one I made, reminds me of a little friend of mine.... ;)
I used some fabric & added a fabric stabilizer- Heat & Bond.
I added it to the fabric first, then die cut my pieces.
I decorated both sides of my little chickie with felt flowers.
Her little beak, comb & the flowers, the little heart, & leaves are all felt, except for one flower I was experimenting with the fabric...
See, I have other things in mind for this CUTIE!

Here's the second little Springtime Chick I made:
This one is done in a French print fabric & coordinating fabrics.
The flowers, the comb, the heart & the beak are all done in felt, once again experimenting with the fabric & the leaves are done in fabric. I also used the extra hearts I cut, to tuck under the flowers point first for an extra pop of color on both chicks!
I embroidered the eyes on both with  French Knots, & straight stitching following the little stitch holes.
This one I also added some little seed beads to one of the flowers, just for something different.

I stuffed each with cotton batting & added ribbon & bows for hanging.
(Ooops! Looks like I forgot to pull the backing off of one of the leaves from the stabilizer! LOL Easily fixed!) ;)

Hope you like!

Cluck! Cluck!

SSS- Fun with Felt!

Hi Blog Friends!

Do you remember in my last post I talked about making sachets for my stationary box?
Well, I made some!

SSS is having a "Fun with Felt" Challenge over on their Wednesday Challenge Blog here:
http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-fun-with-felt/#comments
(Made with SSS-Spring Plush Release Products.)

AND SSS is having a "Felt That" Challenge on the Monday Challenge Blog here:
http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=4796#comments
My project will be entered here also.

Growing up I always had stationary to write to people & would keep it in a box, along with a little sachet, to make my stationary smell nice.
It's a wonderful feminine touch that I adore.
I hope to make more felt pretties for this challenge, but here's what I have for now,
SACHETS!

This is an old tin I used to keep my stationary in when I was a kid, with one of the sachets I made.
A close up.
This one was super simple with just a bit of embroidery in the center.

Next, is a writing desk my husband got me years back.
It holds lots of pretty things for writing letters or cards.

A close up of this one.
(This one is my favorite.)

Just get yourself  a little box, tin or whatever you like,
& put a sachet in it with your stationary or cards you've made.
Just think of the surprise of the recipient, when they receive something smelling so nice in the mail!
(Ha! We could probably make the mail trucks & the post office smell nicer too, if we all scented our mail!) ;)

My inspiration is the sachet on the right.
The very sachet I had as a little girl.

Here's what I did:
Using the SSS- Plush Daisy Die, I used the center only.
Die Cut two in the color of your choice of felt.
Embroider one side without pulling the threads too tightly.
Using a cotton ball, (I had to cut mine down some, as I use  large cotton balls),
drop several drops of Essential Oils- (your choice, I used Lavender), on the cotton ball & sandwich between the two pieces of felt you die cut.
I then used embroidery thread & followed the stitching holes around the little sachet, until it was enclosed.
Next, I used some lace, (MS) & did a running stitch with needle & thread,
& pulled the lace to gather it.
(Leaving the needle & thread attached in-case I needed  more gathered lace.)
Line up your lace along the back of the sachet & stitch the gathered lace to the embroidered back threads along the edge of the sachet.
Finish sewing the lace until it is fully around the sachet.
There you have it, a pretty & nice smelling sachet!
For your stationary, or your drawers or anything else that you want to smell nice!

If you have one of the other Plush Flower Dies that have a circle in them, you could make the sachets even bigger if need be, for whatever your need.
Make your  own designs!
We can make this world smell nicer together! ;)

"Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But the fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved & by those who are perishing."
2 Corinthians 2:15
(NLT)

Enjoying the sweet smell of sachets here!

Make It Market- Don't Forget To Write! =TOTALLY SMITTEN!!!!

Hi Blog Friends!

Long time no see, huh?
I'm here because I have to tell you about the
Make It Market Kit- Don't Forget To Write
By: PTI

I AM TOTALLY SMITTEN!!!!
Oh my goodness, I received the kit for Mother's Day from my hubby.
Of course, I was NOT to touch or look at it,
 but I HAD TO! LOL
I just didn't "play" with it! ;)

When I get something new for stamping it takes me some time to actually play with them.....
I'm one of those who like to bask in the fact that I actually own them first, in quiet!
I just SAVOR having them, looking at them over & over again & thinking,
"How pretty!" LOL

So, when my dearest friend told me she was sick,
I KNEW I had the right medicine!
A card from my new Don't Forget To Write kit!
I've only made one card, so you can be sure I'll be doing more later.
(Still savoring this kit!) ;)

I LOVE the dies & just EVERYTHING about this kit!
Looking at every one's work over at PTI just made me salivate when they first previewed this kit,
& I watched & waited for the date of the release!
Betsy just outdid herself with this timeless kit!
It reminds me of stationary I'd see in the stores when I was a kid!
Betsy DID design this kit with her grandmother in mind...... ;)

The ONLY thing that I thought was missing from this kit
was a sachet to make the stationary smell nice!
(I can remedy that later!)

PTI is NOW taking Pre-Orders for this kit since they sold out.
BE SURE to check out this kit here:
https://www.papertreyink.com/index.php?p=dont_forget_towrite
You won't be sorry!
There is a deadline, so get right on it!
(This is the first time I've purchased one of these kits & I think I'll be getting more in the future!)

Here's my card:
(This is only one of the possibilities for this kit too!)

Look at the little scalloped edge of this card & the little stitches..... The GORGEOUS designer paper, die cuts..... (swooning!)

I used rolled dbl. stick tape for dimension on my frame die & Scotch Perm. Mounting tape for added dimension on the banner & the flowers.

I also used some of the little flowers in the kit that only needed to be die cut,
 SO NICE for quick cards!

Here you can see the dimension a little better.
The banner is from PTI- Tag Sale: Quilted Die.

A little ombre on the stamped word "Sending," & I also added Wink of Stella to the word.

I'm thinking my sick friend will like this just as much as I enjoyed making it,
& it will help to make her feel better! ;)

TOTALLY SMITTEN HERE!!!!!
