Enjoy the Moment--Water Color Play

Hi Blog Friends!

Keeping up with the 30 Day Coloring Challenge here:

O.k., I have to admit to staling yesterday on this project.
I had this idea in my head.....
Fiddling around & not trying to execute my idea most of the day.
I DID end up playing with my water colors though, & that is what this challenge is about!
Coloring with whatever medium you like.....
Trying to enjoy it & just create!

Well, I did do all that, although I am not sure I like what I ended up with!
I can say that, I don't believe this is one of my best works though. BLAH!
Does that ever happen to you when creating? LOL
I have to remember, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!" Right?

I thought I had it all done & then this morning, I added to it....
It did help, but I am still not sure of it!
Give me your opinion?

Here goes,

ENJOY THE MOMENT

I LOVE all the layers of color that the water colors give!
I used Kuretake Water Colors.

Here you can see a little of the twinkling shimmer of one of the colors in the Kuretake palette.
I wanted the fluttering trail of the butterfly to twinkle.

I used Tim Holtz-Sizzix 660189 for the Butterfly image.
I embossed it on Vellum in white first.
I didn't like the stark white all by itself, it seemed to be too much white,
& this morning I  added the colorful doodling with Sharpie Markers.
I also had water colored the vellum--the deep pink, orange & yellow.

The sentiment is from North Coast Creations- Floral Sentiments 4.
I thought it fit the card & the process I was going through.
Just "Enjoy the Moment!"

Here is another photo of this project, it is before I added the doodling & will give you a different view.

You can see the underneath butterfly on which I layered the vellum butterfly.
See what I mean about needing something else?

So, now you see the dilemma of the day for me! LOL
If that's all I have to worry about, that is GOOD! ;)

Let me know what you think?

Easter Blessings

Hi Blog Friends!

Super short post today.
Today has been a busy day.
Every time I would think, "I have to color for this challenge,"

I would get a phone call or something, to pull me away from what I wanted to do.
Life just goes that way sometimes.

You can find out more about the 30 Day Coloring Challenge here:

But, I was able to sit down & do a little coloring this evening & just relax.
Take a look:

EASTER BLESSINGS
My image is from SU- Easter Blessings.

I used a sketch from SCS:

I used Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils to color my image.

And I used Recollections Paper Pad- Wild Flowers.

A touch of Wink of Stella on the flowers themselves & home made Enamel Dots.
A super easy sketch to do.

Hope you enjoy & hope you get a chance to jump in & play along with the challenge.

Maybe, tomorrow will be a little less busy!

Because of Love

Hi Blog Friends!

I had such a nice weekend, did you?
I have been busy this weekend also with creating what I have for you today.
Our son got his invitation, I have been waiting for, for another wedding he is in.
I say, I have been waiting for it, because I like to coordinate, or use the invitation as a spring board/inspiration for the card, gift tag & receipt gift card I make.
(I can't show you the invitation for obvious reasons.)
This set is what I will be showing you today.

Just a bit about the sweet couple:
They were friends first in college,
& life just seemed to lead them in the same direction after college.
So, their friendship was able to grow deeper being in the same work, & at the same place even!
They both felt awkward about it all, talking about feelings.....
One wanting to do it through texting, while the other wanting to do it in person.
They both didn't want to loose their friendship & found they were in love.
So sweet in that others thought they would make a nice "couple,"
even though the thought hadn't entered their minds.

The story I read about this couple- that they wrote, just made me giggle inside.
Maybe, because of my own experience.
When I finally did find love, the man I was to spend the rest of my life with, I was so surprised!
I was happy being single by that time!
All of my friends had married years ahead of me.
I had settled into a daily routine, of going to work & coming home.....nothing special.
And out of the blue, SOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENED!

Back to this couple, sweet love was found, & their friends & family were there with them,
to document it all, much to the surprise of one of them.
Cameras being flashed in her eyes as she was asked to marry her friend....
Talk about surprise!
They were at a park, in the dark, as a body of water was rushing by....
she had been transfixed by the waters when he spun her around to ask her to marry him.
SURPRISE!

Love is that way, it seems.
It comes when you least expect it, when you've settled into one routine,
it asks you to change that routine & let another into your heart.
You KNOW that things will never be the same!
It is beautiful in that you are happy to let that change take place.
Most people aren't open to change even in the smallest things, it is unsettling,
but love changes all of that!

I will be entering these cards in Kathy Rocoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge.
You can find out more about this challenge here:
I used a sketch from SCS:
Yes, I made some adjustments to the sketch.
I remember seeing this sketch & was so taken by it.
I just needed the inspiration to use it! LOL

BECAUSE OF LOVE

I used the colors on the invitation & the images that you find here.
The invitation even had a water colored strip across it, that you find on my card.

I started by coloring the tips of the petals on the sunflowers in white,
for the flowers on the colored papers.
That way I could get a lighter color that I wanted on the tips, as you see below.

I wouldn't have been able to get the lighter yellow unless I had used the white first.
I used Faber Castell Colored Pencils- Polychromos Pencils on this piece.
Notice, I also used white on the leaves & stems also, where needed.

I popped the water colored piece up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape for dimension,
along with the one single sunflower on this piece.

I love this sentiment for weddings, as that is how love seems to work.
This sentiment is from Stampabilities- Once In a While-IR1049

Next is the Gift Tag:
This sunflower was stamped & colored on white card stock,
cut out & popped up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape.

I attached ribbon long enough to be attached to the gift.
The inside just says, To & From.

The Gift Receipt Card:
This piece is flat with nothing to open.
The back just says, To & From.
It is always wise to add this type of card to the inside of the gift,
even if you don't add the receipt for exchange.
(From my experience, you need to add this in case the outer tag is taken off or lost,
or the couple won't know who gave the gift.)

Here I made Vellum Envelopes for the card & the gift receipt card.
I like being able to let the cards shine through the vellum.

 So, what do you think?
I had such a good time creating this for this couple & for our son.
I of course, check with him when they are all done to see if they are alright with him.
I also let him look through my Wedding Sentiments to choose what he wants the card to say.

Because of Love,

Floral Delights- Take 2!

Hi Blog Friends!

Today, another creation for Kathy Rocoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge!
(We're over half way there now!)
Found here:
Yes, I just had to do another piece with the same floral stamp that I did the other day.
This time, layering it up & doing a few small things to change it up just a bit!
Only to accentuate the image even better!
FLORAL DELIGHT- TAKE 2

Can you see what I did differently from the last piece?

Layering it up,  &  rounding the corners on the bottom....

Those are probably the obvious things, but...

I also used a different purple on the violets,
& I did the centers on the violets a bit different with the Signo Uni-Ball Pen,  and.....

I darkened the blue around the flowers just a bit more, and.....

I did the leaves in a different green also, and.....

I darkened the sponging on the doily stencil,
along with no Wink of Stella on this one.
You couldn't see it anyway. LOL

Here are both of the cards together, just in case you think I didn't create another card! LOL
 Now, which do you prefer?
Just little changes that make this piece a bit more camera friendly!
I still like the piece without all of the changes, even though I also like my new card too.

I wonder what else I'll do with this stamp?

Supplies:
Not much different from this post-
The only difference in supplies:
*SU- Corner Rounder Hand Held Punch
*Paper- Paper Studio

Floral Delight!

Hi Blog Friends!

Today, I have another card for Kathy Rocoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge!
You can find her challenge here:

I did some "no line" coloring just as Kathy did on her site today!
If you check Kathy's blog, she has a video for you on this too.

The card I did for you today is a simple one layer card, where it's all about the coloring!!!
I don't usually go for one layer cards, but this one seemed like that is the way it was meant to be! ;)
I thought about doing some embossing on it, but no.
I  like it just the way it is!

Take a look & tell me what you think?
I love this image & just maybe, I'll do another & do a layered card..... ;)

FLORAL DELIGHT

 So, what do you think?
I wanted it to look like a grandmother's bouquet, or at least this is what it looks like to me. LOL
Do you notice, the edges of the card have some stenciling?
The little white dots?
(Those white touches are something Kathy likes to do too!) ;)

**** This card was chosen for "Favorites of the Week" ending March 19th, over at SCS.****

Hope this is a "Floral Delight" for you too!

Going To The Chapel- Take 2

Hi Blog Friends!

Scurrying to get these posts in on time for tomorrow's deadline on PTI!
The challenge?
Look here:
http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/03/march-2017-release-day-5.html#comments
The challenge is to create a new project based on improving a card you were not happy with.

I will be entering this in Kathy Rocoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge also here:
http://www.thedailymarker.com/2017/03/day-1-coloring-with-sharpies-distress-ink-and/

AND, here is where I posted the card that needs improvement:
http://tladydesigns.blogspot.com/2013/05/papertrey-may-blog-hop-challenge.html#comment-form

Now, I must tell you, there are more ugly cards on my blog. LOL
But, when I made this card in-particular, I didn't have that many PTI goodies.
So, I was limited in what I could make for that challenge at the time.
Trying to create a card to the color scheme given was difficult also with what I had.
Those are my "excuses!" LOL

Here is what I made:
I had to adjust the filter as it wasn't showing the aqua in my card.
(The last picture is more accurate.)

I used: PTI- Lace Bouquet, & PTI- Love & Marriage.

I did a resist technique with embossing & water coloring.

And here are the two cards together.
(No, I didn't use the earlier card. LOL TOO UGLY!)
Here the colors look more life-like.

Did I IMPROVE this card?

JUST FOR YOU!

Hi Blog Friends!

What am I doing for the challenge over at PTI for their 10th Anniversary, today?
The challenge is:
What is your All Time Favorite Floral?
My  all time favorite floral is from the kit:
Don't Forget to Write
by Betsy Veldman.
I remember when it came out, Betsy said it was done in honor of her grandmother.
It just spoke to my heart, thinking of days gone by, & the stationary I loved to purchase as a kid.
SO BEAUTIFUL!
You can find PTI's challenge here:

For the Kathy Rocoosin's 30 Day Challenge:
I did only a little coloring on this one today.
This is one of those solid florals, so not much is needed, although,
I did find SOMETHING to color!;)

For Kathy's Challenge check here:

JUST FOR YOU!
Can you spot the coloring?
Just the centers of the flowers. ;)

Here you can see the dimension I gave the flowers.

For PTI products I used:
*Don't Forget To Write Kit
*Center Style: Feminine Die
*Lovely Laurel Kit

Hope you like!
