"Oh So Pretty in Pink"

Hi Friends!
Today, I'm going to share with you another one of my Beveled Tea Cups! I had another post planned BUT, DISCOVERED a blog I like to follow, The Shabby Tea Room http://theshabbytearoom.blogspot.com/  has a challenge going that would fit what I've done!  I had this pretty Pink Rose English China Cup all ready for a friends birthday!( She'll be getting it early! I didn't  want to post before she even got her little package; it would spoil the surprise! )  I had yet to make the card. So, I set about making the card & giving my Tea Cup a little addition! Here is the  picture for the inspiration!
The requirements are to create a card or project inspired by the colors & include a flower.
Here's my take on this photo:
Here are some additional photos to get an even better look!
My Pink Rose English Tea Cup & Saucer from my own template. I used SU- Elements of Style,  Prisma Watercolor Pencils with a blender pen. I also embossed the Tea Cup & the Saucer with the SU- Elegant Lines Folder. I  used MS Crystal Fine glitter on the embossed lines, a Gold Krylon Pen, SU- Tiny Tags that I wrote "Happy Birthday" on & a SU- Cellophane bag. I made the Pink Rose from Satin Ribbon  for the flower I was to add to my project! WHAT A LOVELY ADDITION! ( I'll have to remember to do this in the future!) Here is a better look at my card!
What do you think? I LOVE this SU set, Apothecary Art! I've had my eye on this set since it came out! I think it matches the set by SU- Elements of Style very well! I used Prisma Water Color Pencils & a blender pen on this too, a Cuttle bug folder- Swiss Dots, Inking the dots with White ink, 2- lace heart doily's, an EK Success Gold Calligraphy Pen- for those detailed areas, Gold Krylon Pen, Dimensionals- used on the wreath, the banner & the Labels Collection Framelits Die, which I edged with MS- Crystal Fine Glitter,  the Becca Bow Maker, Jewelry Findings & Glass Crystal Beads. Here is the  SURPRISE inside!
"We're so happy when surrounded by cake I mean FRIENDS." I've been saving this sentiment for sometime, for just the right card! I like to add a sentiment inside that you wouldn't expect!  The sentiment is by Eat Cake Graphics. The little cake is by SU- Birthday Bliss, I used the MS Crystal Fine Glitter on the cake, adding gold Stickles to the flame & I wrote in the Happy Birthday!
HOPE you like!
BE SURE to come back next week when I share an "Organization Recipe- for Stampers!"

Take some time to tell someone how much you love them this week!

Hi Friends!
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! I know I am! I wanted to share with you SOMEONE, who I THINK you would like to know! Especially, if you like Stampin Up! A few weeks back, I won some blog candy from my SU Demonstrator! She didn't tell us what the "candy" was. It turned out to be one of the New Ink Pads in one of the "in colors!" I got the Midnight Muse & four other ladies got one too, of the other colors! I HAVE TO say, I LOVE the New Ink Pads!
I HAVE TO tell you too, Dawn has this thing called "Frequent Stamper Tokens." For every $50.00 you spend, you get a token! (Which are little punches, a different one each month.) When you get 10 you get to pick out a FREE set of stamps, YOUR CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! How FUN is that?????? Well, my Birthday is coming & my hubby (who handles the finances, for good reason! Remember, I'm not into math! LOL) said, I could order some SU for my Birthday! And I reached my 10 tokens too! HAPPY ME! DO check out Dawn's website, I KNOW you'll like it !http://www.dawnsstampingthoughts.net/

Well, I like to let people know I appreciate what they do for me & that includes someone like Dawn! Even though, this is a "business transaction," a bonus for me,  she is taking from HER PROFITS to bless me! So, I want to bless her! (SHHHHH, she's off to Conference right now! Here's what she'll get when she gets home! When she's at Conference & you order, you get DOUBLE the tokens! )
Purple is her FAVORITE color! I did something just a little different with this Tea Cup- I embossed it with the SU- Elegant Lines Emb. Folder & then I added some MS Crystal Fine glitter to the embossed areas. It looks like sugar! I REALLY LIKE the embossing! ( I used the  Elements of Style Stamp Set & Watercolor Crayons & the  Tiny Tags set.) AND I made her a matching "Thank You" card!

My SWEET husband let me go ahead & pull this set out of  my SU goodies for my Birthday! LOOK at that sentiment! "A Cup Of Thanks," PERFECT! For this card I used white embossing power & heat set it, on the Tea Cup image & then I used my stamp pads & a blender pen to apply the color to the little flowers on the cup. Also using Elements of Style & SU punches & the Elegant Lines Emb. Folder & the MS Crystal Fine glitter as I did on the Tea Cup. (Dawn likes glitter too!)

I also want to show you just a couple more Paper Tea Cups! I've been adding to my Tea Cup line---this time I did Round Tea Cups. (My Original Cups were/are  Beveled.) Again, my inspiration came from Lomonosov! Here is a picture of a real Lomonosov Tea Cup.
Isn't it GORGEOUS!!!!!! I LOVE that Cobalt Blue!!!!!!!!!!! This one has an Asian flair to it. Notice the glaze on the gold handle & the taper at the bottom of the cup. Now believe me, I don't think myself near the artist that did this gorgeous cup, but here is a TRY at recreating this beautiful piece! (I REALLY GOT INTO the SWIRLS!)
Just know, the color IS a little off for some reason. In my picture, it looks aqua, but it isn't in real life. With this cup, I did the design free hand & used Prisma Watercolor Pencils with a blender Pen. And of course, my Krylon Gold Pen. I even beveled the bottom a little. Maybe, you can see it?
The last Tea Cup I did, was inspired by the Asian influence of this Lomonosov Cup also.
With this Cup I used SU- Eastern Influences (retired). I used Dick Blick Colored Pencils & a blender pen, & masking just a little. This cup is also a Round Tea Cup. One little difference with this one is I used a stylus on the under edge of the saucer to give it just a little curl. (Experimenting here!)

Do you see why I was SOOOO TICKLED to get that Blue  SU ink pad for blog candy? I used it on the second Asian style tea cup! Oooooo, that BLUE!!!!!!! I am SMITTEN!!!!!!!!!

If you want to see more information on Lomonosov check out their website: http://www.ekaterinas.com/  There's LOTS to see on their website! From the History of Lomonosov to the making of Porcelain & videos too!

HOPE you find some time today, to relax & have a cup of tea! Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
                                                    LOVING that Cobalt Blue!

Christmas in July!

Hi Friends!  Hope everyone has had a WONDERFUL week & recuperated from the Fourth! Hope you weren't one of those that lost power during all the heat & storms! We lost ours for awhile & discovered we needed MORE FLASHLIGHTS! Thank the Lord, the electricity came on BEFORE everything in the refrigerator spoiled!

I THOUGHT this past week was going to be quiet! We had a storm blow through--& when my hubby took the dog out she found a little bird, just sitting there on the edge of the yard, amongst the twigs & other outside debris! NO nest to be found! With our cats, we KNEW it would be a SNACK! So, we brought it in & called around! OF COURSE, there were no resources.....So, after feeding the little thing, boiled egg yolk & soft dog food with tweezers,   we put him back outside, up on a tree branch. Letting nature take its course. He disappeared. We aren't sure whether he was eaten or his mommy came for him. We try to think the latter happened! Here is picture of just how little he was!

We also had an unexpected treat of going into the "big city" on Thursday! Around here going to Lexington is the "big city!" We were up EXTREMELY EARLY to get out the door! It was a little foggy! I always LOVE how the fog hangs down into the mountains. It's so  beautiful! The sun rise was GORGEOUS!  The colors made me hopeful of all that was good to come! The sky showed through the clouds in spots of aqua! What a BEAUTIFUL drive we had! (Do forgive me for the quality of the pictures! I NEED to remember to take my camera! My daughter shot these with her Nintendo 3DS!)

We haven't been to Lexington in quite awhile, so it was a real treat! We did some shopping and we hit one of the craft stores! I USUALLY like to go to Hobby Lobby, but we found a Michael's!I hadn't been in a Michael's FOR YEARS!  So, I opted for that store instead! Couldn't do both as EVERY ONE'S feet hurt! Including my own! (When I shop, I SHOP! I HAVE TO see EVERYTHING!) Anyway, I didn't really have alot in mind to get when going---just wanted to look around & drool.... I DID discover that Michael's has WOOD KNITTING NEEDLES! They had the pretty tops too!  I've not seen wood knitting needles  in the stores & I've always had to order those on-line! So, I was pleased with that & made a mental note to remember...!

I thought I'd do a CHRISTMAS IN JULY card for you today! I've seen ALOT of cards on the web lately that are made with Kraft card stock & have splashes of color! I LOVE the look! So, here is my card along with a matching envelope! (Yep, I made those envelopes myself!)

I used a Penny Black Stamp for the main image. Using Versa Mark & Gold Embossing Powder on red card stock. Then I filled one of my water color brushes with bleach & applied that to the flower! I LOVE the effect of it!(Be sure to check the bleach on a scrap piece of paper before applying it to you image!)  Using my Krylon Gold Pen, I edged the image & the matting around the image. (I can NEVER GET ENOUGH of that Gold Pen! One of FAVORITE TOOLS! Here is a picture to help you find one for yourself! I've gotten them at Hobby Lobby & discovered they carry them at Meijer too!)

The sentiment on the front of my card is from SU- A Cardinal Christmas and I gold embossed that too. The Bakers Twine, I ordered from Amazon! You can find a huge spool on Amazon for a decent price! You'll end up with MORE than you can use probably, but you can use this stuff on ANYTHING! I LOVE IT!

I wrote the inside sentiment myself & typed it out with a typewriter! (No, I'm not good with the typewriter! I hated those timed tests back in High School!) I stamped just a little on the inside piece with the gold ink, using the Penny Black image  & edged the inside matting with the gold pen!

It's funny, this Christmas in July stuff, isn't it?

Thanks for stopping by! Please leave me a comment???? Would LOVE to hear from you!

Hope you find time today to have a cup of Tea & just enjoy the day!

P.S. I'm HOPING to bring you a few NEW pictures of some more of my Paper Tea Cups next week! BE SURE to come back!

"Stand fast therefore in the  liberty  wherewith Christ hath made us free, & be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1

This is going to be a "power packed" post today! Not only will I give you crafts & food to drool over, but I am going to weigh-in on what happened last week! (I think you know what that is!) Look out, if you're squeamish, it's time to take the Rolaids & get on with what God has called you to do! It's TIME TO BE BRAVE & WALK IN LIBERTY!

What better time to celebrate the LIBERTY God has given us here in America than the 4th of July! Commemorating the birth of our freedom! The birth of our Nation, The United States of America! I HOPE you got to watch MONUMENTAL Sunday night! I was INSPIRED & BLESSED!
                                              "HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERICA!!!!!!!! "

Just a few years ago I went to the dentist for my regular check-up & my dental technician told me it was time for x-rays...As she looked at the x-rays, she told me she saw my jaw bone was thinning. I mentioned this to my doctor when I saw her next & she ordered a bone density scan. The bone density scan showed osteoporosis! Then I was sent to another doctor that is in the same practice, who handles all the women with osteoporosis. He put me on medication & also informed me he would NOT order another bone scan in a year, as it "wasn't worth it!" To convince me, he told me the story of his uncle who was very large & had had open heart surgery. Only to pass away a few months later. "It wasn't worth it," he said, "and he was tired of paying for others!" I stood my ground & told him, "People work hard their whole lives-- working to have their last days in old age, in peace & security with good health care." He was VISIBLY ANGRY & I could see he didn't like what I was saying & thought I was an uninformed IDIOT! He got up & left. I thought, "Where's the form I'm to take to the front desk?" I stepped outside  of the room & there he was at the nurses desk. I stood waiting for the form. He didn't even turn around, but sneered & waved me on. I came out of that office FURIOUS! I informed my doctor I WOULDN'T go back to him! I have since left that office altogether...! This incident happened BEFORE the Health Care Bill became law, so I KNOW EXACTLY what is coming! My feelings at the time? It was depressing, distressing & UNBELIEVABLE that this was happening! We had/have health insurance! AND we pay ALOT for it! (I have had TERRIBLE doctors before, the stories I could tell! So, I've gone back to "Interviewing" my doctors before employing them!) Last Thursday, the Supreme Court upheld the Health Care Law & guess what? I WASN'T distressed AT ALL! I ACTUALLY was EXCITED! I can hardly believe it myself! NOT that we should sit by & let people harm us, but that we are ACTIVELY INVOLVED, "fighting" to keep our Freedoms!

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called & hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." 1 Timothy 6:12

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep our hearts & minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

God is SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!  Don't forget that!!!!!! WHO gives us LIBERTY? GOD!     NO ONE can take that from us! I feel WHATEVER God has called you to do, NOW  is the time to DO IT!!!    What has God called you to do? This is a time where God is going to be MADE REAL!   I believe MIRACLES  are going to happen!  GOD is in control of our futures! Our physical well-being, our spiritual well-being, our mental well-being! GOD IS IN CONTROL!

This is a song that came to mind on Thursday---It is "old" by some peoples view but, it is based on Gods' Word; I don't view Gods Word "old!" LISTEN TO THE WORDS!  It's just what "Dr. Jesus" prescribes for all of His children who may be shaken at what has happened as of late! (Twilla Paris, GOD IS IN CONTROL from Beyond a Dream, 1993.) It is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE songs! It will fill your heart with courage & a KNOWING that HE is in control of EVERYTHING!
Put on the FULL armour of God & get to WHATEVER God has called you to do & do it with courage & IN HIS LIBERTY!!!!!

Now, as I promised, here are some 4th of July goodies to drool over!
                                      "HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERICA!!!!!"

I have been wanting to decorate for the 4th of July for sometime but, never took the time! NOW was the time, this year! I started by  making a table runner! I am NOT  a quilter, but what could  be more Americana than a quilt? So, I set about designing my pattern with my idea in mind. Here's what I came up with!
After I sewed all the pieces together & did the hand stitching, I gave it a Tea bath to get the aged look I was after! I even made matching napkins out of the bandanna material! And I folded them in the "Candle Fold" for the table! I wanted to add star buttons to the blue area but, there were no star buttons to be found at our "local" store! In the end, I guess it's ok, as the runner serves for a large pot holder also!
The next project I created was a center piece! I got my inspiration from Somersets' Holidays & Celebrations Magazine, page 118,Volume 1. Here is my interpretation:
What do you think? Here's what I did: I used a block of wood on the bottom & painted it blue with acrylic paint. (I even added felt to the bottom.) For the cone, I used a card board cone from a spool of cotton yarn. I then used ripped strips of material (blue star, as on the runner). I glued them to the spool/cone with decoupage, wrapping it from top to bottom till it was covered. I then added the spray tensile type stuff to the top, gluing inside with the hot glue. (I'd had that in the basement for a few years! Used on our daughters bicycle in a parade a few years back.)  I used pebble rocks in a Ziploc bag, to give it weight, pushing it up inside of the cone & hot gluing a cover on the bottom. I ruffled red, white & blue stripped & starred ribbon by hand & red crepe paper; using the hot glue gun to attach them to the bottom. I added fine gold glitter to the crepe paper edge also. I then used hot glue to attach the whole piece to the wood block. I added a little strip of ribbon to the top of the cone to cover the entry point of the tensile. The image- I found on the Internet, I did two of her, (for both sides); adding a dark navy layer of paper to the back & then I colored her with colored pencils--wanting more vibrancy! Then adding fine gold glitter to the rays on the image. I then attached Lady Liberty to the cone with hot glue- curling her just a little to conform to the cone. I then made a banner & antiqued it & stamped "Liberty" on it & attached it to the bottom side  of  Lady Liberty! Here are a few close ups:
AND here is an image of Lady Liberty for you, that you can copy & make your own Lady Liberty Centerpiece!
The next thing I made were PINWHEELS! Gotta have Pinwheels! They're JUST FUN!
(You can see the Candle Folded napkins in this picture too!) For instructions on how to make the pinwheels check TipNut.com

For FOOD today, we went traditional. Hamburgers, BBQ Chicken, Vegetable Tray with dip, Corn on the Cob, & Potato Salad, & of course, Iced Tea! For dessert, I made Apple Pie with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream! Here are just a couple of pictures & I'll give you the potato salad recipe!
This is the ARTICHOKE POTATO SALAD! I am NOT a potato salad person BUT, I like THIS potato salad! Here's the recipe from Taste of Home 30-Minute Cookbook.
2 lbs. red potatoes, cooked & cubed
1 can (8 1/2 oz.) quartered artichoke hearts (in water), drained
1 small red onion, chopped
1 cup brick or Monterey Jack cheese- I used shredded
1/2 c. crumbled blue cheese
3/4 c. vegetable oil
1/4 c. cider or red wine vinegar
2 garlic cloves -gives a nice zing!
1 t. dried rosemary, crushed
1 t. dill weed
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
In a large bowl, combine potatoes, artichokes, onion & cheeses. You can mix the dressing: oil, vinegar, garlic, herbs & spices in a jar & shake & then add to potatoes. I just sprinkled mine over & poured over the oil & vinegar & tossed to coat. Makes: 10-12 servings.
I THINK you'll LIKE this one!
Then, fresh from the oven for dessert, APPLE PIE!

I am NOT good with Pie Crust! But, cutting little shapes makes it look like you aren't so bad! I made little stars for the edge of the crust & one for the center! Again, what could be more American than Apple Pie? Just top mine off with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream please!
I combined a couple recipes for my apple pie filling & it came out just a little tart, so I won't give you this recipe, this time! Needs a little work!

I would LOVE to hear from you! PLEASE leave me a comment???? Here are some questions if you aren't sure what to say:
*Would you prefer I post my crafts/cards ahead of a holiday, rather than on the holiday?
*What did you think of Monumental?
*What has God called you to do in His Liberty?
*What did you have for the 4th?
*Did you do a special 4th of July craft?
*If so, what was it?
* Would you like for me to give you my list of questions, I use to  "Interview Doctors?"

"Now the Lord is the Spirit; & where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty." 2 Corinthians 3:17
