Simon Says: Home Sweet Home

Hi Blog Friends!

Happy Friday everyone!

Today, I have something for you that I have been planning for awhile.
Do you remember when Kathy Rocoosin had her Coloring Challenge over at
The Daily Marker????
I was one of the winners one day & she sent me a package full of goodies!
(So yes, I have more things planned with those goodies!) ;)
One of the stamp sets she sent me was by Lawn Fawn,
Gnome Sweet Gnome.
I've seen the cutest scenes with this set.
So, I ordered the dies to go with the stamp set, & I found THE PERFECT stamp to go with it when I ordered the dies! ;)

I have never seen myself as a "cutsy-tutsy" (that's what I call it) LOL type of card maker, but I have to say that when you win stamps that aren't what you think are your "style," GIVE IT A TRY!
Seriously, when you win prizes that you might not think are your "style," it is a chance to work outside of the box
you've put yourself in!

So, I want to tell Kathy,
for helping me step out of the box I put myself in! ;)

I am entering this card in  the
SSS- Monday Challenge
Home Sweet Home
Found here:

Now, here is what I made with the set Kathy sent me.

There's Gnome Place Like Home!
(This card is one of my all time favorites now!)
I paired the Lawn Fawn Set up with Penny Black's Cottage Tree House.
I've seen this Penny Black stamp before & thought it looked like so much fun!
And this tree was so full of  imagination & just fun;
it looked like the little house this gnome would live in!
Makes me think of a wonderful illustration from a child's book!

I used a full sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" Card Stock for this card,
because of the size of the Penny Black Image.
My card turned out to be 5 1/2" x 7 1/2".

I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi Water Colors to color this Penny Black Image.
I had such a fun time water coloring this one evening!

I then stamped the little gnome & mushroom, by Lawn Fawn & colored them with Spectrum Noir & Copic markers & mounted them on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape.
I placed him off to the side of the walk-way, as if to invite you to his fantastical home!

I also mounted the whole illustration on Mounting Tape.

I went back after creating my card & added the inside, just a touch of masking here....

Another little touch that Kathy taught us, was to go over the illustration with a black marker after you've colored it....
I must say, it just made this pop even more!
I used a Faber Castell- Pitt Artist Pen for that.

I used the sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Set & heat embossed it with
Ranger Fine Black Embossing Powder.

I'm not sure if the photo's give this justice or not.
In real-life, the colors are vibrant & the tree looks 3-D!
This card could be used for a "welcome to one's new home/neighborhood,"
or just a fun card to send someone, maybe even frame it for a child's nursery?

I think this little gnome is VERY HAPPY with his home!
He even has a pie on the window sill cooling if you want to come in & visit!

Hope you enjoyed my stepping out the box,

Casing Nichole!

Hi Blog Friends!

Today I am playing along with PTI's
"Create Along with Us!"

The goal is to create a project utilizing inspiration you've seen during release week.
It must have at least one PTI product used,
and of course, it must be a new project!
We have until May 22nd, at 6 a.m. to submit our entries.

Check here for additional information:
So, I looked at what was presented & tried to think of what I had, & how I could do this....
That is how I came up with Nichole! LOL
I did like her card too! ;)
Here is where you can find Nichole's card that I cased:
And here is Nichole's card:
I LOVE the CAS of this card!
(Of which I am not that good at doing! LOL It IS NICE to learn from the experts, isn't it?)
The Herringbone background, from the new Mix & Mat Collection.
(Of which I HAVE TO HAVE!)
The flower...
(It is a new flower done with lines, "Especially You," so we that like to color can color....;) )
And a Word die with a banner.
So, here is what I did:
I used PTI- Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Die for my base.

I also used PTI- Mix & Mat Scallops Die.
Love this lacy piece!

For my flowers, I used the PTI- Make It Market- Don't Forget To Write.

My Word Die is from PTI- Make It Market- Don't Forget To Write Kit also, along with the little embossed sentiment on the banner.

The banner is from PTI- Tag Sale- Quilted Die & I snipped off the ends.

I lightly adhered the lacy panel, placed my floral sprig with Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape,
& then attached my word sentiment & banner.

Lastly, I added my Paper Studio Rhinestones- in 3 mm & 4 mm.

ANNND, I added  sparkle with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen- Moonstone to the word die, & where I stamped blue & last of all, I splattered it on my card. ;)
Gotta have sparkle, right?

Hope you like & join in on PTI's release fun!

Sending Prayers

Hi Blog Friends!

Today, my post is for a
Paper Trey Ink Make It Monday Challenge-#284.
Background Stamping with Sentiment Stamps
You can find more information here:
Melissa gave us examples with her feminine touch
using the new set Clouche Quarters & Clouche Spring Fillers.
As always, Melissa created LOVELINESS for us!
I was playing around & planned to do two cards, but they melded into one. LOL
I hope you like!
I was in the mood to use blue & could only think of how lovely a light blue on lacy white would look..... I used the new Pen & Ink Sentiment Set for my background.
This is a beautiful set! So many nice sentiments!

I also used PTI Dies-
Make It Market Mini Kit- Lovely Lace- I adore this set,
Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Die- a FABULOUS basic die set,
& Mix & Mat Scallops- a wonderful addition to the basic die sets.
I ADORE the dies at PTI, as you know.
PTI  offers the basic dies that help you build your stash, without having to buy them all at once!
They all coordinate wonderfully & they even have MORE coming out the release for this month!
Here is a close-up of the sentiment background, & the Lovely Lace Die.
I also used the set Mini Blooms.
I wanted them to have some dimension; not only did I use Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape on my Mix & Mat Scallops Die, but I also used my McGill Stylus Kit on the little blooms, & adhered them with Multi-Med. Matte, using my Pick-Me-Up tool.

I added centers to my flowers with  Ranger- Liquid Pearls.
I thought it needed just a bit more sparkle & added 28 Lilac Lane Sequins- Pastels.

Inside, I used the same sentiment that I used on the front,
& a Mini Bloom to coordinate with the front.

I'll be sending this to a dear friend!

Sending Prayers, & I KNOW He is listening!

Hi Blog Friends!

This past weekend we went to our son's graduation from Graduate School.
Our son now has his Master in Business,
 an MBA!
He has always been one who LOVES TO LEARN!
He does hope to one day earn his Doctorate in Business.
That alone tells you he LOVES LEARNING!
We really never stop learning.
It is WHAT YOU LEARN & WHAT YOU DO WITH IT,  that takes you places in life.
So of course, I made a card for our son's graduation.

I am putting my card in the
 Impression Obsession Challenge:
UNLAYERED- (Less than 3 layers- not counting the base.)
You can find out more on the Impression Obsession blog here:

I will be entering my card in the
Simon Says Stamp- Monday Challenge:
Simon Says: IT'S A FRAME UP.
You can find out more about this challenge on the SSS Monday Challenge Blog here:

Let me show you the "layers" first.
This is the card base- which isn't counted.
I made a
"Shadow Box 'Frame Card.' "
(You can find out how to make this style of card over at SCS.)

This is the "cover" for my shadow box. It has two layers, the red card stock & the designer paper.

This is the "insert" for the Shadow Box Frame Card.
It is one layer with the image & stars, & the whop-la is hand drawn. ;)
Even with adding this layer to the base, it is less than 3 layers.
I think that will work, do you think that will work?????  LOL
(At this point, I WISH I had one of those "wobblers" to use. Wouldn't this graduate look cute wobbling? I JUST ordered some, so I will add that to this card later for our son. Yep, even after I already gave him the card! He likes the interactive type of cards. ) ;)

This is my card all put together.

The inside with the insert in the base.

This is the back flap, where you can add your sentiment & sign your card.

Here you can see the dimension of the card.

The sentiment on the front was part of the designer paper & I popped it up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape.

I have to say, I LOVE this die- I.O.- Jumping Grads Dies- DIE295-R
(There are two of these jumping grads- a male & a female in the set!
Quite a buy I thought, with another graduation near at hand! )

I made a tassel from Embroidery Floss & gold sewing thread.

Again, the inside, so you can see the sparkle of the stars. I foiled these with my Mini Minc Machine.
I mean really, it is a BIG DEAL to stick with schooling for 6 years, after High School.
There were times our son got tired of being in school, & that is the reason I thought this jumping grad was so fitting! ;)
"You DID IT, Son!"
Hope you like my card & give this cute Shadow Box Frame Card a try!

Keep On Pedaling!

Hi Blog Friends!

Today I have a card for you for,
Paper Trey Ink's Make It Monday #283:
Water Color Wash
You can find out more here:
I have been thinking about this card for sometime. It takes me awhile sometimes to pull it all together. LOL
But, I knew I wanted to use PTI's Pedal Pushers Stamp & Die Set....
And when I saw the challenge, it came together for me in my head. ;)

I made this card for our daughter for a friend of hers.
Her friend will be leaving the campus this year, after graduating & then working for the campus for several years as a "Dorm Mom."
(That's what I call it! They call it something else these days!)
Our daughter has grown close to this woman & gone to her for advice many times.
Not to mention, she has been our daughter's boss for work-study.
As a mother, I so appreciate this woman's guidance & honesty with our daughter.
And for her example as a young "Christian" woman!

Our daughter tells me she likes the color yellow & bicycles/cycling.
So, what better set to use for this card?

The Pedal Pusher set is one of those sets that made me flip when I first saw it.
Even though, I didn't use it much in the beginning. LOL
(I buy what I like, rather than all the many things I can come up with to use it for.)
It was just SO CUTE & SO DIFFERENT from the other companies!
The little wheels actually turn!
(PTI dies are what make me flip! They're ALWAYS SO UNIQUE compared to other companies! )

So, I hope you like this card,
Keep On Pedaling!
The challenge was to create a water color wash background,
& that I did with just a little bit more control than the examples that were given.

I did a little resist technique also with the new stamp set/ mini-kit,
Lovely Lace,
using one of the flowers in the mini-kit.

I also knew I wanted to create a rainbow, like it was coming from behind the bicycle....
The rainbow & the flowers depicting the beauty that is left by someone who touches your heart as they move through life.

Notice the little path the bicycle is moving along?
The path of life.

After doing the rainbow & the sky, I added a wash on the bottom for the ground, adding that little path & later adding sprigs of grass to the wash with a dryer brush.

Here is the front sentiment, included in the Pedal Pusher Stamp Set.
Gives you a good sense that in life, you have to keep moving & looking forward.

That is why I added the "brand" of the bicycle to the little bike,
"Life Ride."

I thought this little puppy was kind of cute & made me think of our daughter.
Those eyes & those ears....
(No, she doesn't have big ears! LOL)
I know that by this woman's kindness to our daughter, this woman will never lack a friend in our daughter!

Inside: Another sentiment from the set, & space enough to add a little note.

 I didn't forget a matching envelope!

I enjoyed this challenge & I hope you did too!

I pray THE BEST for this woman in her new adventures & so appreciate her kindness!
