Dreamy Vintage Valentine

Hi Blog Friends!

I have a card for you today for the
Poppy Stamps February Challenge
PSC #41- My Heart

 Found here:

I have to tell you, I am so tickled with how my card came out.
I know Valentine's is over for this year,
but hey, it never hurts to begin your Valentine's for next year!
Especially, when you find a design you love! ;)
I think this could even be a wedding card too--- this card would be stunning in white!

I sketched out my design,
& even thought I had the colors down I was going to use,
but I went in a different direction & am so happy I did!
I started by die cutting the Poppy Stamps- Heart Taglet,
from Strathmore 140 lb Water Color Paper & set the tag part aside.
I dabbed color & water on the little heart with my Kuretake Water Colors & let it dry.
I then, die cut Poppy Stamps-Hummingbirds
 from Strathmore Bristol Board,
& colored them just a bit with a Copic Marker & set them aside.
I also die cut Poppy Stamps- Rose Frame
from Strathmore 140 lb. Water Color Paper,
taped it down to my desk with Blue Painters Tape,
& began to add water to the flowers & leaves, & then added Kuretake Water Colors
As it dried I looked for designer paper that would look nice behind it.

I found some My Mind's Eye- Lost & Found that would look nice & attached the Rose Frame to it,
& matted it onto red card stock.

I then made my card base- which is 4 3/4" x 4 3/4"- SU- Soft Sky.

I laid my pieces down & felt it needed a "doily" of some sort,
 & decided to use
SB-Graceful Boarders- Graceful Frame Maker to give that lacy look around the edges.

I  attached the heart in the center with Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape.

This heart looks a bit tattered, but hey aren't all of our hearts tattered at one time or another?
With love, all hearts heal, & that is what the two "doves" are bringing to this tattered heart, love.
I used Poppy Stamps-Little Heart Banner & cut it from a  sheet of toner paper that had been foiled using the Mini Minc with Minc Foil.

The little roses in the center are from Sizzix-Tim Holtz Alterations-660227,
made with a Tim Holtz Quilling Tool & Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

Something that happened when I made the roses?
The quilling came undone just a bit on one of the center of the roses.
Here's what I did:

I tried to fill the hole with Nuvo Crystal Drops, but I didn't like how it looked.
So, I snipped a bit of the negative space & quilled it & pushed  it into the center,
& you can't even see it!
(It's the bottom center rose that I did this to.)

I added Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape behind the red mat panel, the Little Heart Banner, the "Doves"-Hummingbirds,
&  the Heart Taglet Die for dimension.
The quilled roses were attached with glue dots.

I don't know about you, but this Valentine makes my heart swoon!
I ADORE Vintage Valentine's!
HOPE you like it too!

If you want to play along, you have some time,
just jump in!

Who is the one bringing love into your life to heal your tattered heart?
(We all have "tattered hearts" at one time or another.)

P.S. I didn't even think of adding sparkle of any kind, this Rose frame is so beautiful!

Thank You Kathy!!!

Hi Blog Friends!

Don't think I have forgotten to say,
to Kathy Rocoosin
for her
30 Day Coloring Challenge!

I worked on a card yesterday for this!
I didn't want to post a thank you card that was for more than one company/person,
& I also wanted to have some coloring on it, just for Kathy!

First of all,
I want to say how much fun I had during the 30 Day Coloring Challenge!
It means so much to work day after day on the challenge.
It really helps you hone your skills & keeps you motivated!
All of Kathy's tips help too! ;)
I would say, if you haven't joined in on Kathy's challenge,
PLEASE DO SO, when Kathy has the next one?
It is so much fun & just makes you better at what you do!

For my card today, I even found ANOTHER Peony Stamp!!! ;)
For my Thank You card, I chose to use the new Poppy Stamps Rose Frame.
This is such a BEAUTIFUL DIE!
I cut it out of K & Company- Life's Journey Paper Stack.
(It was actually a print of plaster work)

I put Neenah- Vellum behind the Rose Frame & pink card stock behind that,
& matted it up on grey card stock & finally onto a black card base.

I also tore the vellum on opposite corners for added interest,
& heat embossed the sentiment "thank you"
from the Poppy Stamps Set- Peony Stems & Blossoms Stamp Set
in Zing-White Embossing Powder.

Here is a close up of the center & the flower,
which is from Poppy Stamps- Peony Stems & Blossoms Stamp Set
& cut out with the coordinating die set.
I stamped the flower on Strathmore 140 lb. Water Color with Versa Mark,
& embossed in white embossing powder & then water colored with Kuretake Water Colors.

I popped the grey panel & my die cut flower up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape for dimension.

The inside:
I used another image from the same set & added a piece of the vellum I tore off in the upper right hand corner.

Lastly, I added a few sequins from SSS that I had won as blog candy- (sorry, no name was given),
& I also added Nuvo Jewel Drops.

 for having the
30 Day Coloring Challenge!

I will be entering my card in
SSS- Wednesday Challenge Blog

Stripped Thank You!

Hi Blog Friends!

Back today with a card for you for the
Paper Trey Ink 11th Anniversary Celebrations!
Found here:
I thought I'd try a technique I was wanting to try with the stripes.
I used left over scraps to make this card.
I thought the colors were festive for this celebration!

Stripped Thank You
I started with the intention of having my card vertical,
but I soon discovered it can be used horizontally also!

I cut many strips of paper, not really worrying they were all the same width.
Thinking it might make for an interesting card!

I glued them to a base piece of card stock & when finished, cut off the excess.

I used a T-Ruler & my Zig Water Mark Pen to create the stripes the embossing powder was added to.
I used SU-Silver (on purpose- as it is the color of the 11th Anniversary Traditional Gift- Steel),
& Recollections- Opaque Sparkle Embossing Powders.

Here is a close up.

I created a banner/flag & stamped it with Versa Mark,
the sentiment from PTI-Thank You Kindly.
(I LOVE this set! It has SO MANY FONTS & ways of stamping "Thank You!")

I then added my embellishments- 28 Lilac Lane Sequins & Nuvo Crystal Drops.
A little story about the Nuvo Crystal Drops.....
With one color,  the Nuvo Drops just wouldn't come out of the bottle.
I held it over a small piece of paper I'd been writing my supplies on,
& kept trying to squeeze the bottle.
With one squeeze, it just BLOBBED OUT with a huge squirt noise,
& I was splattered with Nuvo Drops & a BIG BLOB on my desk!
 It over shot the paper!
I worked quickly to get it back in the bottle with a palette knife & my fingers.
Wiped everything I could off quickly to keep it from setting,
& had to take my robe off & throw it in the wash.
(Yep, I'm one of those crafter's who craft in their PJ's & robe! LOL)

Whichever way you like it, it's striped! ;)

AND I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU to PTI for these FUN FESTIVITIES!

Supplies not mentioned above:
*Scotch Tacky Glue
*Multi-Med. Matte
*Jewel Picker
*Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape

Water Color & Lace

Hi Blog Friends!

Back with another post today!

I have a card for you that is for
Paper Trey Ink's- 11th Anniversary Celebration
Found here:
This card is for the challenge on day 8.
The challenge?
It's a Color Challenge!

I used a sketch from SCS:

I will also be entering this in
The 30 Day Coloring Challenge
Found here:
I actually didn't even remember in my earlier post, that today is day 30 for this challenge!
This challenge, even though it is 30 days, goes SO FAST!
Time flies when you're having fun, right?

Here is my card,
Water Color & Lace
I used Strathmore 140 lb Water Color Paper in my Misti,
& PTI- Make It Market: Don't Forget To Write,
for the floral design.

I chose to use the rough side of the water color paper this time.
There is just something about that textured side that draws me to it, it's beautiful!
So, I began....
I inked up the stamp, spritzed it with my Distress Sprayer & stamped.
I just kept doing that, but wasn't getting the desired look I wanted!
So, then I inked up, & stamped, inked up again & then spritzed.
Getting better, but still not what I wanted.
So, I followed the same thing for the smaller floral  in the upper left hand corner,
 for consistency in the outcome.
I then just spritzed the whole thing & angling my Distress Sprayer,
so the water would push the color around.
I then used my heat gun to dry it some & spritzed it again, until I got my desired look.
This was my "coloring" for the Coloring Challenge!
Playing with color in water color form.

I used PTI- Scalloped A2 Die Collection for the oval.
I almost went with a rectangle, but I thought there was too much white left,
& scaled it down some with the oval & created a mat for it myself.

I chose some designer papers to go with it,
Recollections- Wild Flower Paper Stack.
I used PTI- Make It Market Mini: Lovely Lace-
the lovely corner pieces from the set.
(I LOVE this set!)
Here is a close up of the water coloring.
I used SU-inks:
Certainly Celery
Lavender Lace- larger flowers- in my pictures they don't look as lavender as they do in real life.
Brilliant Blue
Tempting Turqoise
Baha Breeze
Those were the colors that I thought matched the closest to PTI's Colors for this challenge.
(I test the colors out with this set first on a scrap piece,
& list them as I go for future reference & tuck them away in a page protector I keep the original stamping order for these stamps in.
I love discovering new color combo's to use with this set.
It's one of my favorite floral's from PTI!)
I popped the oval up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape for dimension.

You can see only a bit of what I did on the card base here in the lower left hand corner-
I used a  Zig-Water Mark Pen to create stripes.

I added Nuvo Crystal Drops- Caribbean Ocean on the centers of the flowers
& topped them off with MS- Crystal Fine Glitter.
Later, I added Nuvo Jewel Drops- Sea Breeze & 28 Lilac Lane Sequins.
This is the inside:
Decorated with PTI- Make It Market Mini-Lovely Lace,
& no sentiment, but left blank for a hand written note to be written.

Hope you like!

Water Color & Lace, who would have thought?

*SU- Markers
*SB- Tool-N-One
* Zig- Emboss Pen (Water Mark Pen)

Burgandy Peonies Valentine

Hi Blog Friends!

Another post for the
30 Day Coloring Challenge
Found here:
Are you tired of the Valentine's yet? LOL
I have enjoyed making them!
It's never out of style to tell the one's you love, "I love you!" ;)

I'll also be entering my card in the
SSS- Wednesday Challenge Blog.
The challenge:
It Must Be Love
Found here:

So, I am using Studio Katia today.
I wanted to use their Together We Bloom Stamp & Die Set.
First, I looked up the colors of peonies....
Look at ALL of the colors peonies come in:
Isn't that amazing?
So, I chose the burgundy peony for my Valentine's!
Take a look:
Stamping them on Strathmore 140lb. Water Color Paper in Versa Mark & sprinkling on
Wow-Perissa-WL16R Embossing Powder & heat setting it.
I water colored the images with Kuretake Water Colors & my Silver Blk. Velvet Brushes &
 my FC- Click-N-Go Pot.
Die cut them all out & set them aside.

I used Neenah- Metallic Card Stock for shimmer, making a card base & a card front.
For the card front I used Studio Katia- Dotted Elongated Hexagons Dies,  (I thought these were the most interesting shaped dies, the minute I saw them on Kathy's blog during one of her coloring challenges a few years back), & attached acetate from packaging for a shaker card.
I also edged this piece with Versa Mark & the same embossing powder....
I wanted some flowers inside & out.
The front sentiment is from Tweety Jill- Vintage Valentines & the little hearts inside are from the same Studio Katia set- Together We Bloom.
I added 28 Lilac Lane Sequines & Nuvo Glitter Drops- Golden Sunset.

Look at the dimension the Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape gave to these lovely flowers.
The inside:
I  made enough flowers to add some to the inside too!
And the sentiment is from Gina K- Rose Bouquet.

I LOVE Studio Katia's modern looking dies & lovely flowers!
Do you?

Happy Valentine's Everyone!
