A Picture Perfect Birthday!

Hi Blog Friends!

Here for the
30 Day Coloring Challenge
Found here:
You should see my desk as I work on this post!
I REALLY NEED TO clean it! LOL
Christmas card supplies, weekly card supplies for our daughter away at school,
stamps I need to find storage for, plus the normal stuff I keep on it.
Sometimes, I just get lost in it all! LOL
But, I was able to create this card for my hubby's birthday.

I will also be entering this in
Impression Obsessions'
 challenge this month:
Autumn Colors

It is hard to find masculine images that work.
Each man doesn't like the same things.
So, you look for things they do like,
& that is how you come out with a card in the end that the men in your life can enjoy!
 I have found over at
Impression Obsession,
a particular artist that is perfect for masculine cards & other cards too.
AND they're GREAT for coloring!

The image used today & images in the link are by

Classic pen & ink illustrations that invoke the nostalgia of country life.

A Picture Perfect Birthday!

This image is from I.O., as I already said.
(#G1866)
I stamped it onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth in SSS Premium Dye Ink, & I started with water coloring the image with Oxide Inks with a Nuvo Aquarelle Brush.

For deeper color, I used Prisma Colored Pencils,
& kept my pencils sharp with a Faber Castell Pencil Sharpener.

This is also a Z-Fold Card.
(Jennifer McGuire inspired this one with her tutorials not too long ago on her blog.)

I also added I.O.- Instant Photo Frame Die175-W for the photo corners
 & Tim Holtz- Mini Gears.

Just a little TIP about your coloring:
When I started photographing my card, & went to edit them,
I noticed they looked washed out.
That was a good indicator I hadn't gotten my coloring dark enough,
& went back & darkened the piece up a bit more.

Take a look & you will see the difference below:

Here is a full photo of the truck before I darkened it up some.
I wanted it to look old & washed out some,
as that is what happens when the finish on a vehicle looks after too much weathering.
Compared to....
My "Picture Perfect Birthday" just needed darkening up a bit.
Those "nooks & crannies" Kathy is always telling us about! ;)
You can check your own coloring this way too.

HOPE you like & check out Impression Obsessions fabulous images for coloring!

***This card was chosen "Favorites for the week ending Dec. 1rst, 2018" on SCS!***
