Blue Velvet Peony

Hi Blog Friends!

Last week was a hectic week for us,
& I was grateful to find time to create this card for our daughter,
& have something to show you for this week! LOL

I needed to just sit for a bit of relaxation,
so I chose to catch a few moments just to relax at my desk & color my image....
After coloring my image & die cutting it, I thought it had a velvety look to it,
so that is the reason for the title of my post. ;)

Don't forget about the HUGE GIVEAWAY over on
The Daily Marker.
Found here:
Kathy has MORE than just this giveaway going on over there, so even if you might not be interested in this giveaway, you might be interested in the other things she is giving away!
She wants to get the word out about her HUGE Giveaway & YOU can help her out!

Now to my card, & in the coloring spirit Kathy has....

Blue Velvet Peony
I used the image- The Ton- Dearest Peony Stamp & Die Set.
Stamping it in my Misti with Versa Mark & sprinkling it with SU-Silver Emb. Powder,
  & heat setting it.
This image just calls to be heat embossed with the solid leaves! ;)

Look at that sparkle!

I colored the image with Faber Castell Colored Pencils on my dark blue card stock,
coloring it first with my white pencil.

I created the card base with PTI- Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Dies.
I thought those pretty scallops & stitch lines would be perfect with this image!

I even found some Designer Paper- Paper Studio- Kellerkurtz & Co. with blue roses,
which could pass for peonies & gives an old world feel! ;)
I matted it up using PTI Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Dies.

I felt a nice doily die would work with this---
ODB- Doily Die,
attaching it with Artist Tac.
A banner for the front sentiment, a few sequins by SSS,
& some itty-bitty rhinestones by Paper Studio!
Really, an "easy" card!

The inside:
The outside & the inside sentiments are from
The Ton-Summer Blooms.

I did a matching envelope too, stamping it with SU ink to match my card,
& off in the mail it went! ;)

Hope you like & find some time to create!
It really IS relaxing & I LOVE the idea of having something to show for my time!
That's the practical side of me! LOL

Kind Heart

Hi Blog Friends!

I hope you aren't tired of seeing the cards I make for my daughter!
Those cards just keep me going in the area of creating, & I enjoy trying to brighten her day!
I am also trying to light a fire under her, where card making is concerned! LOL
She hasn't really shown much interest.
when she is in school, & when she has studying & has many papers to do.
BUT, I DID make head-way with the Monogram Card I did for her using the Glimmer Machine.
Funny, how a little GOLD can interest a girl!  LOL

So today, I have another card using the Glimmer Machine! ;)

Kind Heart
I foiled the card base with the Spellbinders- Glimmer Machine,
 Spellbinders- Elegant Rectangle- GLP-029,
& Rose Gold Foil-which comes with the machine.

I KNEW I wanted to use this sentiment from- The Ton-Kind, Fierce & Brave.
I bought it specifically for our daughter.
It SO describes her!
She has a "kind heart,"
(She is very sensitive to the needs of others & has empathy for them.)
She has a "Fierce Mind,"
(I always tried to let her voice her opinion on things & not squelch her spirit---
trying to teach her, her opinion on things matters, & gently steering her,
which took great patience for mom at times!)
And she has a "Brave Spirit."
(She is like E'owyn in Lord of the Rings, ready to fight wrong doings!
She LOVES to think of herself as fierce! You don't know how many times I had to tell her to put her plastic sword away when she was younger, imitating E'owyn! LOL)
I die cut the sentiment out with
Spellbinders- Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month-Softly Spoke'n Flip & Gatefold Die--
just the oval piece.
I stamped the sentiment with Versa Mark in my Misti & sprinkled it with
 Stampendous- Aged Rose Embossing Enamel.

Next, I die cut Spellbinders- Tiara Rondelle,  added Versa Mark,
& sprinkled the same Embossing Enamel as above & heat set it.
I adhered the die with Artist Tac- a new product that was sent to me by Dina Kowal.
I LOVED how easy it was to attach this die cut! ;)

I also knew I wanted to use The Ton's-Peony Cluster Mini Stamp & Die Set.
Stamping two floral clusters on Bristol Smooth with Versa Mark & using the same Embossing Enamel, & die cutting them both out after I water colored them with Letraset Aqua Markers.

I popped the sentiment & the flowers up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape.

Hers is the inside.
The sentiment is from the same set by The Ton- Kind, Fierce, & Brave,
& I embossed it with the same Embossing Enamel as above.

Lastly, I added Paper Studio- Pearls.
Elegant, beautiful & encouraging.
Just what I was going for!
HOPE you like!

Floral Wonder!

Hi Blog Friends!

I just couldn't stop playing with my new "toy,"
The Spellbinders Glimmer Machine!

I will be entering my card in

Monday Challenge
Simon Says:
"Use Something New"
Found here:

I "Glimmered" my card stock & ran it through my Platinum,
& ended up with this wonderful golden scrolly pattern.
Now what? I decided to add a floral to it!
Something different than what I've been seeing....

Floral Wonder
What do you think?
I used Spellbinders- Glimmer Die-Elegant Rectangle.
(This die comes with 2 other glimmer dies that fit inside of this rectangle.)

I chose to use a Simon Says Stamp image-Beautiful Flowers 2.
I just stamped it over the glimmer in my Misti in a light ink,
so I could do No Line Coloring.

I used Prisma Colored Pencils & lastly, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops for dew drops.

You can layer-up these foiled pieces, or do one layer cards.
I've found they add a NICE TOUCH to one layer cards.
The foiling just gives that little "umph" you're looking for in a one layer card.

The shine is unbelievable!
I've found Spellbinders- Glimmer Machine to be SO EASY to use, &
the shine,  gives a better coverage than I've found with other machines that foil!

 A little TIP here:
I found my Glimmer Machine at  Hobby Lobby & used their 40% Off Coupon! ;)
The lady at the register wanted to know WHAT did I have??? LOL
I got to tell her ALL about the Glimmer Machine & it peaked her interest!
SSS carries them too, along with other stores!
I think they're going to be such a HIT! ;)

Hope you'll join in on the fun with the Glimmer Machine!
If you get one, let me know & I'll come over to visit! ;)

Make Today Count!

Hi Blog Friends!

I have a card for you today, that is one of my weekly cards I send to our daughter
while she is away at school.
I thought it was a good card for the New Year too;
Each day, we should remember to
"Make Today Count!"

I LOVE the way it came out!
It makes for a nice card to display,
OR it could even be framed!

As I told you in my last post, Santa was good to me, & I received the
Spellbinders- Glimmer Machine.
I am entering my card in
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
Simon Says: "Something New"
Found here:

Make Today Count
 Look at that shimmer glimmer!
Done with the Spellbinders- Glimmer Machine!
I used Paper Studio- Heavy Weight Card Stock in Cream.
I thought the cream would be BEAUTIFUL with the Gold!
Sure enough!

I matted the sentiment- Spellbinders Glimmer Die- Make Today Count- GLP-010
up on Recollections- Foil Paper, & mounted it all up on Scotch Perm. Mounting Tape.
I then Die Cut- PTI- Delicates Die & altered it a bit....

Here you can see the cream card stock a bit better.
I added 28 Lilac Lane Sequins for the last touch.
Not really much needed with all of this glimmering beauty!

Spellbinders has a Glimmer Hot Foil  Kit of the Month now,
if you haven't heard!
You can check it out here:
Simon Says Stamp also carries some of these wonders! ;)

Hi Blog Friends!

I HOPE everyone had a wonderful Christmas with your families!
We had a nice day together here;
I am so blessed!

Today, I'm showing you some cards I made with
The Spellbinders Glimmer Machine!
I am in love with this machine!
I loved seeing all of the creations the SB Design Team made when they premiered this machine,
& now, I am enjoying what I've made with it too! LOL
Santa was good to me! ;)
I had some Thank You cards to make.....
The first one is more colorful,
& so I named it
A Colorful Thank You!
I foiled the large Thank You first using SB- Glimmer Die- Thank You- GLP-024 & some SB- Foil.
I wanted something at the top & decided to stamp my image in Ink On 3- Fade Out Ink,
 for no line coloring.

The image is by SSS- Strangeness- SSS101872, colored in Prisma Colored Pencils,
& I went over it with Gamsol for blending.

I went over the top of the colored flowers with Nuvo- Mother of Pearl Mousse for shimmer.
It smeared the colored pencils some (didn't mean to do that), & it toned down the coloring too, but I'm alright with it.
Lastly, I added Multi-Med. Matte & added 28 Lilac Lane Sequins.

Look at the shine from the foiling!

Next up, I did a traditional Monogram Card,
Monogram Elegance!
I used Spellbinders- Elegant Monograms- GLP-035 & SB- Monogram Medallions- GLP-036,
& some of the foil that came with the machine.

I started my cards with a cut card base at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", & scored at 4 1/4".

I have to say, the Monogram Sets are THE SETS to get--for now!
This is my favorite!!!

If you haven't gotten Spellbinders Glimmer Machine, GET ONE! LOL
You'll LOVE IT!
